5 Weeks Before The Baby Shower

  • meet the mom-to-be for coffee (she’s probably decaf)
  • have him make a guest list with addresses
  • decide on a convenient date and time for him
  • write a list of her favorite foods (to give you ideas for planning the baby shower menu)
  • find out if he is registered with any baby supply stores
  • find out the baby’s gender (if known) and any nursery themes or colors (this will give you some ideas for baby shower decorations)

4 Weeks Before The Baby Shower

  • if friends or family members are helping, ask what they want to manage (favors, invitations, food, etc.)
  • select and address baby shower invitations
  • plan the baby shower menu (it’s easy to make things like appetizers, punch, snacks, etc.)

3 Weeks Before The Baby Shower

2 Weeks Before The Baby Shower

  • choose decorations to match the overall theme of the baby shower
  • complete games and prizes – collect or shop for necessary items
  • shop for cute baby shower cups, plates, napkins, etc.

1 Week Before The Baby Shower

  • cake order
  • order catering or shop menu items
  • make a reservation (if at a restaurant)
  • touch based assistants
  • Get your baby shower gift with card and gift bag

Baby Shower Day

  • grab a bundle of colorful helium balloons
  • decoration for the big event
  • set-up seat
  • have helpers arrive early to bring food, help with decorating, etc.
  • pick-up cake (unless you make it yourself)
  • make some of our popular baby shower punches
  • tie up any last minute details

Isn’t this a simple baby shower checklist? Not much and no need to feel overwhelmed.

Below are some simple and sweet little gestures to make the new mommy feel extra special at her baby shower.

  • Have a big comfy chair waiting for him to sit on.
  • Ask someone if they can write down who all the gifts are from.
  • Pre-address some thank-you cards for her, to make it easy to write thanks (or have each guest address an envelope with their information)
  • Don’t let mom carry any gifts in her car – get the shower gang to do the lifting!
  • Have a cute mom-to-be gift basket filled with slippers, bubble bath, candles, and a soothing CD.
  • Older brothers and sisters may feel a little left out. Treat them to a basket full of books, crayons and bubbles!
  • Brush up on your Baby Shower Etiquette: What to do and what do you mean no will do

We’ve created a free printable diaper bag checklist that you can print and put inside your baby shower gift for the mom-to-be at her baby shower!

The perfect gift idea is to give her back that diaper she’s been eyeing and fill it with all the “new baby” essentials! Then include the checklist so she’s always stocked with essential “new baby stuff!”

free printable DIAPER BAG CHECKLIST

Diaper bags tend to overflow with all kinds of craziness – especially if you have other children. There could be iPads, Kindles, iPhones, last week’s odd snack, juice boxes, you name it!

When you bring a new baby home, you want the new diaper bag to stay as clean and tidy as possible. Below is a list to keep it well stocked and a few tips to keep it free from magical foods.

Top Diaper Bag Essentials

  • diapers
  • Wipes
  • Bottles
  • Bibs
  • Extra Clothing(s).
  • Medicine
  • Diaper Rash Cream
  • Thermometer
  • Camera
  • Sun screen
  • Snacks
  • Toys
  • Teether
  • Powdered Formula Packets
  • Bottled water
  • Teething Gel
  • Pacifiers
  • Baby Nail Clippers
  • Mom’s stuff: wallet, cell phone, lipgloss, etc.

An easy way to stay organized and keep clutter to a minimum is to clean out the diaper bag after every outing. This is easier said than done but it really helps.

Also, if you have other children, fill a small bag with things they will need like snacks and toys and put it in the diaper bag. This way their things stay separate from the baby’s things.

Put your cell phone, lip gloss, wallet, etc. in a side pocket or a mini purse.
