Pro-Life Action League Applauds 5th Circuit Abortion Pill Ruling
Last night the three judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a decision in the abortion pill case, Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA. In response, Pro-Life Action League executive director Eric Scheidler offered the following comments:
I applaud the Fifth Circuit panel’s decision that reverses dangerous changes the FDA made since 2016 in how the abortion drug mifepristone is administered. In particular, the court rejected the agency’s claim that the drug was safe, citing the absurdity of making such claims after stopping reporting of all harmful effects of the abortion drug.
The CEOs of Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid should be breathing a sigh of relief today, after brazenly wading into the abortion controversy earlier this year to say they would stock fefespristone in their pharmacies — a decision that led to months of protests from groups like the Pro-Life Action League. Yesterday’s ruling means these pharmacies will no longer be allowed to dispense abortion drugs, eliminating the terrifying prospect of neighborhood drug stores across the country becoming abortion facilities.
