SSA baby names
It was reported today that the SSA has been tracking America’s baby names since 1880. But, the idea of releasing a list of the most popular baby names of the previous year dates back to 1970. The data is taken directly from applications of social security card. The administration keeps up to date with popular boy names and popular girl names by state.
The Acting Commissioner of Social Security, Kilolo Kijakazi, once said, “Like your name, Social Security is with you from day one. One of the first things parents do for their newborn is get them a Social Security number. Because of this, Social Security is the real source of the most popular baby names every year.”
