Abortion

3 Things You Missed from the Called and Missioned Pro-Life Men’s Summit

The culture screams that abortion is only a “women’s issue” and that men have no role in it. Care Net research shows us that the father of the baby is the most influential person in a woman’s decision to have an abortion or not. God calls people to do missions, protect the weak, and build strong families.

Thanks to powerful speakers, amazing exhibitors, and over 400 men in attendance this year, God is calling many of us to turn their pro-life passion into Pro Abundant Life action. It is inspiring to see men responding to God’s call to provide compassion, hope, and help to women and men at risk for abortion. Here are 3 things you missed from the Called and Missioned Men’s Summit.

Recap of the Called and Missioned Men’s Summit 2023

#1 You don’t get to learn more about Making Living Disciples.

At this year’s Summit, Care Net’s Executive Director of Church Outreach and Engagement, Greg Austen, shared Care Net’s Making Living Disciples (MLD) approach. The response has been incredibly positive and encouraging. Pastors left with ability and power to carry MLD in their own congregations. The summit helped leaders understand that abortion, at its core, is a discipleship issue, and MLD is the solution pastors are looking for to end abortion and rebuild families in their churches.

“There are so many voices that want to define our purpose for us, or take our purpose from us. These voices echo and disturb, because so many men wonder, or are not really sure, why they are here and what they deserve.”—Dr. Tony Evans, Senior Pastor, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship

But, clearly Making Living Disciples (MLD) is not limited to pastors. Men in attendance were shown how they too can start their own ministries to walk with women and men considering abortion. MLD is an indispensable tool for both pastors and men seeking to make a difference in the lives of those considering abortion.

#2 You haven’t heard of Abortion Recovery and Care (ARC)

Millions of men have been hurt by abortion. But there are few places for them to seek the help and healing they need. Called and Missioned pointed pregnancy center, ministry, and church leaders from across the country to the event, to resources and programs in their communities that may help.

“We guys have to get off the sidelines. They made a mistake when they told us we couldn’t say anything. You are the most influential person in a young lady’s life, whether she is pregnant with you, or whether she is your child. But we’ve been told not to speak, which means don’t care.”—Jeff Kemp, author, former NFL quarterback, and CEO of the Jeff Kemp Team

At the event, Care Net was launched Reclaiming Fatherhooda brand new Bible study for men who have experienced an abortion. Retracted fatherhood provides a road map to healing for men struggling with the emotional and spiritual effects of abortion. This book can be the first step on a journey out of safety and into hope, purpose, and fulfillment for people’s lives. Anchored in this new resource, Care Net is encouraged to see what God will do with the seeds planted in Called and Missioned to help men find healing after abortion and start ministries that will help others man to find healing.

#3 You haven’t learned how to relate to more dads.

Called and Missioned attendees heard from the men who serve in the pregnancy center ministry and saw the difference it makes when fathers are met with compassion and equipped to be the fathers God has called them to be. The Summit marked the launch of Care Net’s new online Doctor Dad® Course for new and expectant fathers.

“You just have to say, “Like Jesus, I will not say or do anything that the Father does not give me…and I will trust Him to give me what I need…tonight with my husband, tomorrow with my child, the next day at work, and the rest of my life…”—Jeff Kemp, author, former NFL quarterback, and CEO of the Jeff Kemp Team

Attendees who are already active in fatherhood programs at the pregnancy center and pastors from their surrounding churches, used the event to strategize how to partner to reach men and families in their communities.

Don’t miss what our Keynote Speakers had to say

“The question of that day is not simply, “What have you left? But what do you pass on ahead? What have you done with time and space that has eternal value tied to it? What have you done in history that God can celebrate you in eternity? What has been the significance of your life for God’s purposes? You will not be asked about your income. You won’t be asked how you got into the company? You will be asked, “What have you done that has eternity attached to it?” When you fight for the survival of life in the womb, the dignity of life to the grave, and you invest in the welfare of people for their existence, and for their eternity, you have served the purposes of God. ”
—Dr. Tony Evans, Senior Pastor, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship

“You just have to say, “I, like Jesus, will not say or do anything that the Father does not give me…and I will trust Him to give me what I need…tonight with my husband. , tomorrow with my child, the next day at work, and the rest of my life…to a purpose beyond yourself…that is bound to eternity…because it is bound to the image of God. ..that’s what man is. If we do not protect life, we have damaged the image of God. And men should be strong for others not for themselves.”
—Jeff Kemp, author, former NFL quarterback, and CEO of the Jeff Kemp Team

“The reason why we are doing this conference, and the reason why men are not engaged in this issue, is because for decades we have been addressing this issue for a sanctity of life issue without the sanctity of marriage and family and therefore you. men do not need. But God did. He called Joseph. So in the same way it is called and missioned for you. Because Joseph was called and missioned—husband to him—father to the child that grew within her—to provide for and protect…one man, two missions, calling and mission…sacred of marriage and family…sacred of life…God designed it for the family. Do you see? ”
—Roland Warren, President and CEO of Care Net
