Dobbs Donation Drive for Pregnancy Centers Celebrates Landmark Decision

A coalition of state attorneys general, including Lynn Fitch of Mississippi, recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of the historic Dobbs decision by hosting a donation drive to support more than 60 pregnancy centers across the United States.

Last year, Fitch filed a brief for the petitioners in his state Dobbs against Jackson case, which led to the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

“With the Dobbs decision, the Court returned policymaking about the very important issue of abortion to the people,” Fitch said. “We now have the duty to empower women and uphold life with laws that show our respect for the dignity of women, children, and life itself. As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of this landmark decision, we request people to reach out to women facing the challenges of unplanned pregnancy or new motherhood with love and support by donating essential items to the centers of pregnancy that empowers women across the country, every day.”

The Dobbs Donation Drive, held June 20-24, featured a wish list of essential items from pregnancy centers. The event was sponsored by His PLAN of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America in partnership with Heartbeat International and Attorney General Fitch’s Empowerment Project. Her PLAN (Her Pregnancy and Life Assistance Network) facilitates collaboration between providers and their communities.

“At the heart of the Pro-Life Movement is love for mother and child. [With the one-year anniversary of Dobbs], we celebrate the unborn lives saved and the mothers helped through the dedicated service and compassionate care of more than 2,700 pregnancy centers and maternity homes nationwide,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. “In contrast to the abortion industry’s one-size-fits-all ‘solution’ to abortion, the pro-life movement offers resources and a community of support that empowers women and their babies to develop. We thank everyone in our Her PLAN community, the pregnancy center movement, and Attorney General (Lynn) Fitch for courageously building a pro-life America that supports babies and mothers.”

In addition to Fitch, hosting Attorneys General include: Brenna Bird (Iowa), Andrew Bailey (Missouri), Marty Jackley (South Dakota), Jonathan Skrmetti (Tennessee), Sean Reyes (Utah), Jason Miyares (Virginia ), Patrick Morrisey (West Virginia), and Kris Kobach (Kansas).

“Pregnancy resource centers provide free and ongoing support to women, their born and unborn babies, and their families. Above all, they save lives,” said Kobach. “Please consider blessing a family by contributing to a local crisis pregnancy center.”

In a video released in conjunction with the Dobbs Donation Drive, Fitch applauded the work of pregnancy centers and said she was proud to stand with the pro-life community “in this fight for the dignity of women, the dignity of their children, and the natural dignity of all life.”

“Pregnancy centers provide loving care and practical support to women and their babies before and after birth,” Fitch said. “These centers are usually staffed by volunteers and rely on the generosity of others to support their good work. [With the Dobbs Donation Drive], we show these centers that we appreciate the work they do to support women and children. The women they serve often lack a network of family and friends to support them through pregnancy and motherhood and are often in poverty, fleeing abusive relationships, or without job training or education. We want these girls to know that they don’t have to do it alone.”
