Looking at the current state of our culture, Care Net thanks God for His leadership. We are in awe of how He has helped us adapt Care Net programs to the needs of our country to save lives.
The prayers and generosity of our donors save the lives of unborn babies every day through four key strategies that directly address the most pressing challenges in the fight to end abortion.
Strategy 1: Emergency Care
The challenge: The federal government announced its plans to fund a national abortion hotline that directs callers to abortion clinics.
The solution: Care Net’s hotline provides compassion, hope, and assistance to women and men actively considering abortion, ensuring they have all the resources necessary to choose life for their unborn who are children.
Did you know that a woman facing an unexpected pregnancy only takes 9 days between confirming her pregnancy and acting on any idea she may have had about abortion? And that short window is growing shorter all the time due to the increasing marketing and use of the abortion pill. This need drives us to contact her before the abortion industry.
In today’s digital age, when a woman learns about an unexpected (or unexpectedly complicated) pregnancy, her first instinct is to search the internet for guidance. To ensure that she finds our life-saving help in her moment of need, Care Net operates a national hotline with an innovative website and targeted advertising. When she dials our hotline, a kind and helpful coach answers her call and gives her the hope, compassion, and Christ-like guidance she needs to choose life for her unborn child and experience an abundant life for his family. We will also refer her to a local pregnancy center where she can receive ongoing emotional, spiritual, and practical support in her own community.
But can you believe the recently announced White House plan to launch a federally funded “abortion referral hotline”? This will compete directly with the life support provided by Care Net. Instead of receiving hope and help, women – often scared and only thinking about how to get back to “normal” as soon as possible – will call the federal abortion hotline to ask for an abortion and only be directed to providers of abortion. No pregnancy centers are mentioned unless she specifically requests it, and they certainly don’t discuss the sanctity of human life. No one can help slow them down and reassure them that they won’t need to panic. It doesn’t help to think through ALL of their options before they make a decision that could cause them grief for the rest of their lives.
Because Care Net receives no government funding, our donors ensure that our national hotline receives the necessary funding to surpass the federal government’s hotline, guaranteeing that trained coaches are ready to respond to women’s calls and men who are in dire need of help.
Strategy 2: Short-Term Care
The challenge: Abortion clinics continue to receive federal funding, while lawmakers across the country attack any alternative to abortion, especially life-affirming pregnancy centers.
The solution: Care Net provides support — through training and resources — to a network of more than 1,200 pregnancy centers. These centers serve as a lifeline for women and men in their communities, offering the life-affirming help they truly deserve.
Care Net offers women and men at risk for abortion through our extensive network of more than 1,200 life-affirming pregnancy centers. These pregnancy centers are on the front lines of the fight for life, bringing compassion, hope, and help to women and men who are actively considering abortion. Last year alone, these community-based organizations provided more than $96 million worth of free counseling, ultrasounds, pregnancy screenings, parenting classes, and many other essential services to more than 300,000 individuals.
This network of centers has saved over 1 million lives of precious babies from abortion! Additionally, they have shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with over 2.1 million parents! These remarkable individuals truly live out the Great Commission in communities across the country every day.
Despite this incredible work, the abortion industry and its vocal allies will not stop attacking and defaming pregnancy centers. Care Net empowers pregnancy centers by providing them with:
- Necessary resources and support so they can serve their communities with excellence, every day.
- Cutting-edge professional education program offering professional development, education, and training specially tailored for frontline workers serving pregnancy centers nationwide.
- A national conference where pregnancy center staff and volunteers can receive the education and spiritual renewal they need to continue this transformation.
Strategy 3: Long-Term Care
The challenge: More and more Christian denominations and churchgoers identify as pro-choice. Unfortunately, only a very small percentage of churches in America have ministries in place to support women and men at risk for abortion.
The solution: Our church outreach initiative provides training to clergy and their congregations so that their churches can effectively reach and serve individuals at risk for abortion within their own communities and successfully partner with those local pregnancy center to save more lives.
Care Net believes that caring for someone who is considering abortion goes through many stages beyond the initial decision when parents choose life for their baby.
The Church is God’s instrument to make disciples and respond to the physical and spiritual needs of His people. This mission extends to the women and men we serve who are at risk and choose abortion. They also deserve the opportunity to be disciples of Jesus Christ! Therefore, the Church must give them long-term care and guidance so that they can not only choose life, but also experience the prosperous life found only in Christ.
That’s why, in 2016, Care Net launched its Church Engagement Initiative to empower local churches to offer compassion, hope, help, and discipleship to individuals who are considering abortion on their own. congregations and communities.
Sadly, in recent years, we have witnessed an increasing number of churchgoing Christians, and even entire denominations, express support for abortion. And statistics reveal that at least half of all abortions are performed by women who consider themselves Christians.
It has never been more important for the Church to address this issue with wisdom and compassion. We must remove the log from our own eyes. Care Net provides churches with:
- The training and resources they need to care for women and men facing unplanned pregnancies, and then give them the long-term discipleship they need to find abundant life in Christ.
- Access to strategic events designed to equip churches for pro-life ministry
- Access to Care Net’s extensive network of 1,200 pregnancy centers
Since 2015, we have provided training materials to over 5,000 churches. However, we still have tens of thousands more to reach.
Strategy 4: Cultural Change
The challenge: Pro-life ballot initiatives have failed across the country, even in states that claim to be pro-life. Our culture is increasingly ignorant of the devastating effects of abortion on women, men, and the unborn.
The solution: Care Net provides free eBooks, courses, and resources to equip pro-life individuals to take action and fight the pro-choice lies that pervade our country.
Since Roe v. Wade was repealed in June 2022, there has been an alarming increase in Christians, and even entire Christian denominations, expressing their support for abortion. Although this is discouraging, it is not surprising, considering that more than half of the women who undergo abortions identify as Catholic or Protestant.
Essentially, the Church needs to change the way it addresses this issue. Care Net’s public education efforts have always aimed to ensure that everyone understands the value of human life and the importance of protecting it. However, recently we have intensified our efforts to help Christians gain a deeper understanding of why the fight for life important.
Care Net’s public education efforts include:
- Creating and distributing free eBooks and online courses to empower Christians and non-Christians with knowledge that strengthens their resolve to fight for life. More than 110,000 individuals have accessed these resources.
- Sharing pledges to educate and encourage people who will improve their lives about the key issues we face and how we can get involved. More than 260,000 people have signed the pro-life pledge on our website.
- Ensuring that people have access to the new eBook about the Biblical case for life, enabling them to have transformative conversations with pro-choice Christians in their families, churches, and communities. It is very important for the Church to have a firm understanding of God’s heart throughout life, starting with pro-choice Christians.
Care Net strives to spread the Pro Abundant Life message far and wide on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). Furthermore, we are working with Moody Radio and other Christian media platforms in 2024 to further enhance our educational efforts in churches that need to address this issue more effectively.
