Use formula and feeding equipment within one hour of starting a feed
Once you have started a feeding session with a bottle of formula, the formula in that bottle should be used within one hour of the start of that feeding session, to prevent the growth of potentially unhealthy bacteria in formula that can make your baby sick. If your baby needs to eat again after an hour or so, start by making fresh formula in a clean bottle.
Another way to practice formula safety is to clean the feeding equipment, wash it in hot soapy water, and air dry, or put it in the dishwasher if the manufacturer’s recommendations allow. Boiling or microwave sanitizing is usually not necessary.
