Joe Biden is Radically Pro-Abortion and Must be Defeated

Here’s a question to start the last post of the day. What do we mean when we say someone or something is “relentless”?

According to various dictionaries it means “cruel or inflexible”; “shows or promises no reduction in severity, intensity, strength, or speed”: finally, how about “A person who is relentlessly determined to do something and refuses to give up, even when what they’re doing is unpleasant- he or cruel”?

If those descriptions don’t apply 100% to President Joe Biden’s administration and its position on killing unborn babies, nothing will. Writing now at National Review OnlineLathan Watts headlined his essay “The Biden Administration is continuing its Relentless Push for Abortion.”

Even those of us who closely follow the machinations of the Biden administration can learn something new from Mr. Watts.

He starts with something we’ve discussed time and time (and time) again: The over-the-top unscrupulous promotion of mifepristone, the abortion pill, better known as RU-486.

But before this is his thesis:

Recent developments in the ongoing litigation highlight two key points in the national debate over abortion policy and women’s health. First, the Biden administration’s contempt for the US Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Second, the Clinton-era canard that pro-abortion advocates want to keep abortion “safe, legal, and rare” can be granted forever.

The first example of Mr. Watts illustrates how little stock the Biden Administration puts in sincere claims of conscience: The Biden administration’s attempt to use the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act to force emergency room doctors to perform abortions. Various pro-life groups asked the court to uphold a lower court ruling that stopped the administration’s abuse of EMTALA to force doctors to harm women and their unborn children in emergency room in violation of state law.” Guess what? The appeals court unanimously agreed.

Back to mifepristone. The Biden Administration is bringing out the usual suspects—ACOG and Planned Parenthood—to “prove” that women have nothing to fear if they undergo a chemical abortion. However…

The FDA’s own labeling for these abortion drugs indicates that approximately one in 25 women who take the drugs will end up in the emergency room. After requiring critical safety standards for 16 years, the FDA has betrayed women and girls and eliminated these standards.

Showing the agency’s callous disregard for women’s health, the FDA has approved drugs to be delivered directly by mail to women and girls — without them seeing a doctor. Nothing about leaving girls to take these drugs alone at home without medical attention is “safe, legal, and rare.” The FDA even removed the requirement for health care providers to report any serious, non-fatal complications from the drug. As the saying goes, “there is nothing blind like those who refuse to see.”

There are countless other examples—relentless attacks on the life-saving work of pregnancy help centers is just one of many. Watts’ conclusion provides an excellent summary:

Whether it’s using EMTALA to force emergency room doctors to endanger women’s lives or abandoning women and girls in their homes or dorm rooms to deal with the complications of abortion drugs in life alone, made by the executive branch of our federal government. clear its callous disregard for pregnant women and their unborn children, not to mention the right of the American people to empower women and protect life in their states without federal coercion to govern. The Supreme Court will have a chance to block the administration’s indefinite reach this spring.
