As part of the campaign, NAF is announcing a new name for the nation’s largest hotline and releasing a video with Kathy Najimy to increase awareness of the service

NATIONAL – Today, the National Abortion Federation (NAF) announced a new campaign aimed at helping raise awareness of the organization’s newly named National Abortion Hotline as a resource for people seeking abortion care. The #ItsYourCall campaign was launched on a digital video featuring celebrity Kathy Najimy sharing her abortion story. The campaign was brought to life with creative, branding, and influencer support from agencies Quirk Creative, Apollo Media, Thread, Obviously, Burns Entertainment, and BerlinRosen.

“I had an abortion. I am grateful that I had access to the essential health care I needed when I was young. I’m 19, and working two jobs, full time in college with no money, and no position to be a mother,” said Kathy Najimy, actress, comedian, and activist. “I am angry with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn our Constitutional right to reproductive freedom. This decision means that millions of women will no longer be able to access reproductive care in their states. I’m proud to be a part of the #ItsYourCall campaign to raise awareness for the National Abortion Hotline. Whatever your reason or abortion, this is who you should call.”

The one-minute video shares the stories of various people who have received abortions, including Najimy, and emphasizes that regardless of one’s circumstances or finances, everyone deserves the right to an abortion and should have agency and resources to make the decision that is best for them.

The newly named National Abortion Hotline is the nation’s largest multi-lingual, 24/7 abortion assistance hotline, and it has been in operation since 1978 helping anyone seeking abortion care in any state, for any reason. So far in 2022, the Hotline has helped fund more than 70,000 abortion procedures. By calling the National Abortion Hotline, people can get information on the providers closest to them, travel assistance, and funding to help pay for care.

“We’re excited to share the #ItsYourCall campaign that strengthens National Abortion Hotline services with the help of activists like Kathy Najimy because it’s critical that as many people as possible know their options and the resources available to them,” said Veronica Jones, Chief Operating Officer at the National Abortion Federation. “The National Abortion Federation recognizes that our Hotline is a critical part of the abortion access infrastructure in a post-Roe world. Although we’ve helped thousands of patients since June, each new trigger law that goes into effect means more people will be forced to leave their home state for abortion care. No matter what state a person lives in, help is just a call away from the National Abortion Hotline.”

“We are honored to collaborate Apollo Partners, Get creative with Thread, It’s obvious, Burns Entertainment, Mophonicsand many other talented teams and creatives across the country,” said Commercial Director Emily Draper. “The National Abortion Hotline does incredible work, and together we hope to spread the message that if you’re struggling to plan your abortion, you’re not alone. It’s your call. And the National Abortion Hotline can help.”

As a result of the abortion bans that have been in effect since the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June, the National Abortion Hotline saw a huge increase in patients needing their services, including a more than 5000% increase in train and plane bookings for out-of-state care in the month after the decision.

Since the fall of Roethe National Abortion Hotline has offered financial support for nearly 11,000 abortion procedures and since 2008, we have funded nearly 1.3 million abortion care procedures.

Anyone in need of an abortion can access help at 1-800-772-9100 and supporters can help directly fund patient care through the National Abortion Federation’s website.
