Remember that organic diapers and organic accessories are more expensive than ‘conventional products’, so an organic and natural diaper cake costs more.
Buying Ready Made Organic Diaper Cakes
Google for ‘organic diaper cake’ and you’ll see it’s hard! As you get more results, you will soon discover that the ingredients may be organic such as organic toys or swaddle blankets but diapers are not.
Ready made organic baby gift baskets are more readily available. So, an alternative could be a gift basket and you just add a package of organic biodegradable diapers or organic cloth diapers.
How to Make an Organic Diaper Cake
Basically, an organic nappy cake or any other diaper gift is made just like any other diaper cake unless you use eco-friendly, natural and organic ‘ingredients’ like
- organic diapers
- organic baby clothes
- organic baby shoes
- organic baby blankets
- organic baby toys
- natural baby care products
- don’t use googly eyes for diaper babies or diaper animals but draw some cute eyes instead
- organic ribbon such as organic cotton ribbon or straw/hemp ribbon or eco recycled paper raffia, I recently even discovered a naturally biodegradable curling ribbon made from cotton that actually curls – and it’s not expensive!

Go green! Organic Baby Diapers
adorable organic baby diapers for girlsMy ‘conventional’ diaper babies in a (plastic) box / basket turn into an organic diaper cake in an instant! Use biodegradable diapers (or even put cloth diapers instead of organic ones on burp cloths), 2 pairs of organic baby socks, 4 organic baby wash cloths (for example made from 100% bamboo ) and an organic burp cloth. Don’t use plastic blinking eyes but draw them instead. I’m not good at this, so I used googly eyes for just one baby… These little diaper dolls are super easy to make, here’s the link to my tutorial.
You can also diaper babies with just socks (no washcloths). If you have a pair or two of socks left, just put them in the burp cloth with your organic diapers.

If you prefer an organic baby gift basket think about replacing those piled up cloth diapers with organic onesies and/or organic baby care items. You can also place objects and babies vertically on your fabric. Of course you can also replace the fabric with an eco-friendly basket or an organic diaper caddy.
This is the boy version of the organic diaper babies shown above. I used some fabric ribbons and mostly raffia ribbon which is 100% natural and contains no plastic. Raffia ribbon is made from pieces of the raffia palm tree. Since I can’t draw good open eyes, I cheated but just used a small pair of googly eyes…
