Palm Springs Meets Summer Baby in California
There really is nothing better than sunshine, bright colors, and fresh flowers all put together. The fun of the day, a Palm Springs inspired baby shower has all the perfect details. We love that the invitation clearly defined the theme and created a ‘Palm Springs meets Summer baby’ vibe! If we receive this type of invitation to a party, we are the first to RSVP. The customized details throughout this baby shower are next level. Keychains with tassels and coasters gifted by guests are some of our favorites!
The mother-to-be shares about her vision,
“My husband, Koen, and I are incredibly excited to throw a baby shower for our baby girl who is due in the Summer. I work as an event planner and graphic designer at Two Perfect Events, and I know the team can help me achieve my dream baby shower! I’ve always been fascinated by the allure of Palm Springs. The Two Perfect Events We team brainstormed ideas to embody the ‘Palm Springs meets summer baby in California’ vibe. We wanted to feel like we were on a classic Palm Springs vacation with surprise and delightful inspiration drawn from Gray Malin’s retro aesthetics and Wes Anderson’s unique style.”
The mother-to-be continues with the details,
“The invitation suite set the tone with a pool-inspired blue envelope sleeve. It featured a colorful, double-sided checkerboard invitation, topped with a gold tassel. They were sent in pink envelopes with yellow cabana lined envelope liners. Everyone at the baby shower matched the same invitation colors as well as designs.
Guests are greeted with a “mom-osa” bar cart with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. TÖST is a great non-alcoholic champagne option as an adult drink. The tables were decorated with the most beautiful and playful flowers, designed by Mister Lee’s Designs. The arrangements consisted of an array of flowers including my favorite flower, the anthurium shibori. Some flowers showed themselves in watermelon slices and pink dahlia tuber flowers matched the pink flamingo straws.
The welcome table, decorated with favors, guestbooks, boxes for baby books, and prizes for games. The favors are heart shaped sunglasses and to Sugarfina famous champagne gummy bears. The guestbook is a frame with a mat signed by the guests, and a group photo taken from the baby shower will be displayed in the frame later. As for the baby books, I like the idea of having books from guests (signed by them) in lieu of a card. I also have retro toy cars around as decoration because I love the pictures of Gray Malin’s dogs on those kinds of cars.
The mother-to-be continues,
“The custom photo backdrop reads ‘Girls just wanna have sun’, as a fun way to tie in with the theme, while also mentioning the fact that I’m expecting a baby girl. We decorated it with large live plants (from leafy), a custom BUMP street sign, a big pink car, and big disco balls. The pink car was carrying a package labeled ‘special delivery soon’. The design inspiration was from Wes Anderson’s Mendl’s patisserie packaging from the movie, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Disco balls of various sizes (from Abbey Party Rentals) scattered throughout the venue refracted happy little specks of light everywhere.
The dessert table, filled with so many cute and custom mini desserts! With a cake pop, designed to be a pink beach ball, made by La Vie Douce Designs. Of course, I also had to have my favorite Japanese snack called Pocky – strawberry cream covered biscuit sticks. We also brought a Bliss Pops popsicle cart to keep guests cool, decorated with a menu that says ‘Ready to Pop!’.
The lunch table, set up outside on the veranda took place under beautiful wicker fans with the gorgeous pool as a backdrop. Guests sat at King’s long table with blue acrylic chairs Blueprint and Nüage Designs linens. The table display also included coral napkins from Chairs4Events and ornate green plates with gold and silver flatware from Hensley.
All found their seats via custom-designed motel-style keychains with their names engraved on them. The coasters, created by Two Perfect Events team, is also a gift for attending guests,
It was an unforgettable day and like a reprieve to spend time with our loved ones. Especially, after not seeing everything for most of the pandemic. Not to mention, one of the most epic and beautiful parties we’ll ever throw our son.”
