Getting to know you
Leading up to our match meeting, my IPs and I both completed profiles. We talked about ourselves and our families, as well as what inspired us to start our travels. Profiles are complete with photos.
It’s a good way for me to get a general idea of who the IPs are, where they come from, and what they’re about. With highly customized profiles, I can almost do it feeling the sincerity and heart the IPs put into their answers.
And putting faces to names through photos just got more personal. It showed a portion of IPs I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. They included pictures of themselves in their Halloween costumes and on vacation, both posed and candid. Made them more human and approachable.
These profiles answered some initial questions each of us had about the other party, so we knew the important details before the match meeting even took place. Simple questions like “Who are you?” and “Where are you from?” can have a significant impact on the matching process. These are outside questions, but they are often the most telling.
