Christy is a first-time gestational surrogate who gave birth to a baby boy for a family in June 2023.
Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
I have always loved being pregnant and being a mother, it was something I wanted to do. I want to help someone feel the joy I felt as a parent. I didn’t really know the process how to start, until one day I met someone who became a surrogate at FSC, so I got more information. My tubes are also tied so I don’t think I can do it anymore. Once I contacted FSC myself, I got all the answers I needed and I was more than eager to start a journey, especially after my last delivery was 19 years ago. The thought that I could be pregnant again is exciting to me.
Q. Who has been the most important person supporting your journey?
My husband was my biggest support for sure, I will say my case manager was good and always there when I needed her as well as my IP’s. I grew up with a very good relationship with them. They were so involved in the whole process and I loved how natural it became for us to talk about anything and everything about the pregnancy or how I was feeling, physically, mentally, and emotionally!
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
As soon as I read the profile on my IPs I felt like I was reading something myself. Our personalities are similar in so many ways. We also have a lot in common. I feel like I know them. The smile on my face got bigger as I read about them; I knew in my heart that they were the parents I wanted to carry a baby with.
Q. What were some of the highlights of your trip?
I absolutely loved every part of my trip. I would say some of my favorite parts are being able to message my IPs for the first time after contracts are signed, to meet them in person for the first time as well. I love how involved they are in me that the miles we have between each other don’t matter. It was also an amazing day when they were with me in my 20s [week] anatomy scan and found out they had a son. The excitement on their faces only made me more excited to begin this journey. The biggest highlight that I will say is right after I delivered and watching them hold their baby boy for the 1st time. Knowing that I was a part of making them a family filled my heart.
Q. Do you have any advice for women interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
Just do it! Don’t wait! Ask the questions you want answered, go online and start researching here. One day, it may be too late. I wish I had done it years ago to make some trips, but I will forever be grateful that I was able to fulfill my dream and make one.
Q. How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?

[My case manager] was the best, she has a special place in my heart. He made me feel like I was never a bother to him, anytime I needed him he was there. He always made me feel like I was his only client. He is truly wonderful.
Q. What have you found to be the biggest misconception people have about surrogacy?
I think a lot of people think you’re giving up your own baby, but you’re not.
Q. What do you wish other people knew about surrogacy?
It’s a long process, things will come up that are out of your control but it will be worth it in the end. You have to stay relaxed and have patience and a lot of faith.
Q. How has being a surrogate affected your life?
It made me appreciate the four children I had born for myself. I was blessed to never have any struggles with pregnancy or going full term and delivering healthy babies. I didn’t realize how many women struggle with fertility issues, or how many couples out there really want to have a baby of their own but can’t do without a surrogate. I feel so proud of myself for putting my daily life on hold for almost a year and [a] half to fulfill the dreams of others!
