Meet Desirae!
“I loved my experience, and I can’t wait to do it again!”
Desirae is an incredible gestational surrogate who gave birth to a baby boy for a family in July 2023.
Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
I always wanted to help other families, and I had a bigger heart. I asked God if it was for me to allow me to do it again, and he did, and I fell in love with the whole thing. Seeing the smiles on the parents’ faces when they walked in and met their child made it all worth it.
Q. Who has been the most important person supporting your journey?
My case manager, the other surrogates, my children, the FSC surrogate support manager, my husband, and even the [intended] parents
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
When we were looking at everything and I read how much she wanted to be a mother and how much she wanted to be a father, and her background and how she and her husband had always wanted it, I knew it was them. We all believe in God too, which makes me confirm this is family!
Q. What were some of the highlights of your trip?
Watching it grow from a tiny embryo to a human being. Feeling her kicks and even giving birth! The birth made it the best, because that’s when it all came in and was just amazing! I’m still in awe of seeing them hold their baby, and I can’t wait to do it again.
Q. Do you have any advice for women interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
Have a strong support system and know for sure that this is something you want to do. Do not hurry; take the time to do your research.
Q. How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?
I loved my experience and can’t wait to do it again. I love this whole thing, and as long as God allows me to do it, I will continue to use my body as a vessel to bless those who choose and allow me to do so. I love being a surrogate, and it’s truly the greatest thing, besides being a mom, that I’ve ever done.
Q. What have you found to be the biggest misconception people have about surrogacy?
They think that people are only for money.
Q. What do you wish other people knew about surrogacy?
This is an amazing thing, and we always need more alternatives to help more families. It’s not for everyone, but if you have a special heart to do it, you won’t regret it.
Q. How has being a surrogate affected your life?
It changed my heart, and I am truly grateful that I did it. I understand [more] about how much a family wants a baby, but it changed my life because honestly I just wanted to go ahead and help families form.
