Team Member Spotlight! Meet Ella Mink

1. When did you find your Passion, or when did it find you?

I always have a passion for the things I do. I think life is about making the most of every situation, no matter how small the moment. Living life to the fullest and putting your all into the things you do as well as pursuing your goals with passion is the key. My passion for childbirth grew within me as I learned about the beauty of it all. Having my daughter pushed me to be stronger than I thought possible and I really found myself in the process. It’s incredible how motherhood has empowered me to do the ‘impossible’. Now I’m not saying that parenting is a cakewalk (it’s quite the opposite) but what I am saying is that every parent has the power to do amazing things and I’ve found a passion in supporting families as they discover this power to themselves. ways in their own time.

2. If a kid came up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give them your best tip, what would it be?

Make your own choices and do what makes you happy. Unfortunately, there is so much negativity and hate in this world. It’s impossible to please everyone. If I listened every time someone told me I couldn’t do something, I would be a different person. Your self-worth is not determined by an approval rating so do what you love and know that this is your life.

3. What are you proud of yourself?

I’m proud of myself when I know I made someone’s day. I often get so wrapped up in working towards my own goals and doing my own duties/tasks that I forget to relax and enjoy other people. Knowing that what I’ve done is helping other people makes me really proud.

4. What do you want in your life?

I love that I can live the life I choose. I love my family. I love myself. I love all the amazing people in my life. I love nature, food, music. I am thankful that I can see, walk, talk, and just enjoy being alive.

5. What do you want to be when you grow up?

When I was young, I wanted to be a vet. Then in 5th grade I wanted to be a teacher for children with disabilities. When I was in high school, I wanted to work with children as a therapist, child psychologist or daycare owner. Now I’m still in college and my goal is to become a certified nurse midwife and one day open my own birthing center.

6. What are your top three values?

Compassion, happiness, honesty

7. How would you like to be told that your work is good?

When someone goes out of their way to thank me or talk about how they appreciate me and the work I’ve done.

8. Who is your role model and why?

My role model is my boyfriend, Caleb. He has been the best father to our son and even though I used to get mad at him for forgetting chores etc. I really admire how much passion, determination and energy she brings as well as how confident she is in any situation.

10. If you had any superpower, what would it be?

I often think about this question myself. I want to have the ability to freeze time. Time flies so fast and to be able to freeze time and enjoy a few moments more than one moment would be amazing. That and to have more time in the day to get everything done on my to-do list.

11. How would you describe your (doula) style?

My doula style is friendly and supportive. I hope to not only make a client feel respected and relaxed but feel loved as our friendship grows.

12. Describe yourself in 5 words

Spread the love as much as I can
