Thank You For Making the Holiday Diaper Drive a Success! — Bridgetown Baby
On December 17th, Bridgetown Baby founder Merriah Fairchild, and team members Brita Johnson and Kelsey Baker, along with two happy teen helpers, delivered 65 boxes of diapers in all sizes at the Immigrant Mutual Aid Coalition’s December distribution of needed food and household items.
The Immigrant Mutual Aid Coalition (IMAC) is a partnership of members from local immigrant rights and social justice organizations including the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ), American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Causa, Never Again Action, PCUN, and others. . IMAC was formed in response to the September 2020 wildfires to provide a safe and welcoming distribution center in Clackamas County that members of the Latinx and immigrant communities can access. IMAC provides culturally appropriate food, fresh produce, baby needs, hygiene products, PPE, community resource information, and other needed items.
“We are inspired by our teammate Whitney’s dedicated involvement with IMAC, and we know our Bridgetown Baby postpartum clients will be, as well,” Merriah said. “We put out the call for diaper donations, and boy did you answer!”
Diapers are IMAC’s biggest expense; this donation from the Bridgetown Baby community, in conjunction with Sellwood Community Housewill cover their diaper needs for three months, saving them $1500 that can now be used to purchase other critical support for families.
We are so grateful for the generosity of the Bridgetown Baby community – our postpartum doulas, lactation consultants, and the families we serve – in working toward a more equal society for all families. Thank you!
IMAC is an all-volunteer-led organization and relies on contributions from community members and organizations. At each distribution event (every two to three weeks), IMAC serves between 300 and 400 families in the Portland Metro area. If you would like to donate, please see their current needs.
