The Dominion Psalm of David — The BIRTH CONTROL Movie Project
In this great song of praise, David praised the greatness of God’s name. David examines God’s majestic power in creation and His condescension to man, celebrating God’s great love and kindness to mankind, not only in man’s creation, but especially in his redemption by Jesus Christ. The Lord has supreme power, but man was created in the image of God (Gen 1:26f) and for constant conformity to the image of Christ (Rom 8:29). Man is given power over God’s wonderful creation, which even little children recognize as truth (Matt 19:14; 21:15f)!
Certainly, if man is to reign and “manage the works of [God’s] hands” by having “everything under [man’s] foot” including land animals, birds and fish, he must have had many children. Such fruitfulness is necessary for the very wide practice of administration.

A Song of David. » Oh Lord, our Lord, For the greatness of Your name in all the earth, Who showed Your splendor above the heavens! 2 From the mouth of infants and sucklings you have established strength because of your adversaries, to stop the enemy and the avenger. 3 ¶ When I observed your heavens, the work of your fingers, The moon and the stars, which you appointed; 4 What is man that you remember him, and the son of man that you remember him? 5 Yet you made him a little lower than God, and you crown him with glory and majesty. 6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; You have put all things under his feet, 7 All sheep and cattle, And also the beasts of the field, 8 The birds of the air and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of sea 9 O Lord, our Lord, for great is your name in all the earth!” (Ps 8:1-9 NAS95)
