Tips for Surrogates During the Holidays-Gift Giving to Intended Parents — Colorado Surrogacy
The entire surrogacy process takes approximately 15-18 months from start to finish. Sometimes it’s longer which means your relationship will last through birthdays, anniversaries, and, of course, holidays! There are often questions about what to wear when it comes to the holidays. I want to say that every surrogacy relationship is different and how comfortable you are with your Intended Parents depends entirely on your unique situation. In some cases, all parties live quite far away and therefore can only meet an hour or two before the birth. Others may see each other more regularly and develop closer relationships. In any case, a card or some acknowledgment of the occasion is always appropriate but if you want to buy a small token to celebrate the occasion some suggestions I have are the following: flowers, plants, photo frames (on a day to hold pictures of the new baby), candles or something you know your Intended Parents like a gift card to their favorite restaurant or movie theater are all popular. You may have some inside information on certain things that your Intended Parents may collect or want in particular. The most important thing to remember is that gifts don’t have to break the bank but it should be something from your heart. If you’re stuck for ideas you can always ask your case manager. They often have great insight into what your IPs might like.
