Babymoon Ideas For The New Normal
2.7K
While babymoon ideas aren’t new, a lot may have changed since you first thought about getting pregnant. The weight of the world has not been easy since 2020. And navigating the new normal can be especially trying for a pregnant woman. Especially when it’s a first time mom-to-be. Before you welcome your bundle of joy into the world, it’s good to get away for some much-needed rest and relaxation. And it’s even better when you can share it with your partner.
Whether you’re avoiding travel or not sure what to do with the new normal, here are some smart babymoon ideas you can try in 2021.
Be creative with your memories
One fun thing to do is to take a walk down memory lane from a time before you both were/were parents. You will be surprised to see how far the two of you have come and how much your love for each other has grown. It is clear that being a parent is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have. But, it’s really special to look back on all the fun times you two shared before a baby came into the picture.
If you can’t get away for long, try recreating a fun day in time or a short trip to a place you both enjoyed going back to when you first met. It could be days at the museum, a picnic at a park you two used to love, or a fun weekend getaway to celebrate your babymoon. Choose a place that will evoke happy memories for a chance to enjoy every bit of your babymoon.
Take a must-see road trip for your babymoon
Traveling with a newborn isn’t at the top of anyone’s to-do list—unless it’s a quick run to the grocery store to pick up baby essentials. Think of an exciting place that the two of you can experience together, and take a road trip there! Flying on airplanes obviously increases your germ risk significantly, so a road trip in your own car is a safer bet. Find a cute AirBnb to stay in a place you’ve been dying to explore to make things cuter and more romantic.
My advice is to pick a destination that isn’t too kid-friendly, so you have a chance to relax, unwind, and not hear any screaming kids in the background. After all, it won’t be long before you hear a cranky baby keeping you up at all hours of the night. Sorry for the *spoiler alert*!
Luxury hotel—and don’t forget room service!
Once that beautiful baby comes into the picture, you’ll no longer be fine dining or jetting off for romantic nights at fancy hotels. You’ll be lucky to get away with a night at home and all your mommy duties, and even luckier if you have the energy to make it through a dinner and a nice glass of wine without yawning!
Treat yourself and your partner by booking a weekend at a great hotel. And, of course, don’t forget to order room service! You two are deserving, so maybe book a couples massage at the hotel spa. If the weather is nice, the two of you can enjoy a day by the hotel pool, and floating in the pool is a great way to ease the aches and pains of pregnancy. Be sure to stick to virgin cocktails at the swim-up bar!
Go on a babymoon staycation
Of course the idea of running away seems most attractive, but the truth is that leaving town or on a flight may not be the best idea for you personally. So, let the holidays come to you! A staycation is a great way to reset your mindset. Make sure to do it in a way that takes you away from all the stress and worries of the world.
You know what that’s called? No social media, no computers, and nothing to distract you or distract your partner. Think of some fun activities to try, like board games or crafts. Or better yet, get into the kitchen together and whip up a ton of delicious delights for both of you—or should we say three—to snack while you enjoy each other’s company. Staycations can be just as fun as vacations, and they’re a great idea if you’re on a budget, too.
Whatever you decide to do, be sure to do it at the beginning of your third trimester. You don’t want to risk it by pushing it until the last minute. Because having a baby during your babymoon is not relaxing!
