As the new year begins, your intercession and loyalty can make a lasting difference through our free resource, Pursuing the Heart of God: A 7-Day Devotional Based on Care Net’s Making Life Disciples Course.
Chasing God’s Heart was made by Dr. Greg Austen, Care Net’s Executive Director of Church Outreach and Engagement. This weeklong devotional, delivered in an e-booklet format, features testimonies from the organization Making Living Disciples course and an example of what is happening on a national level when it comes to Care Net’s role in helping churches offer compassion, hope, and help to women and men facing pregnancy decisions.
Each of the daily devotional parts includes two Bible verses and guided prayers that will empower readers to intercede for the reduction of abortions and stand in the space for greater impact from in churches when it comes to discipleship efforts to those facing unplanned pregnancies.
“Ministry to the vulnerable on abortion is difficult. It is private and hidden; moreover, it is politicized and separated from the gospel, discipleship, and grace. If things are to change, the church must lead,” said Austen, the author of Irreplaceable: Reclaiming God’s Heart for Dads and How I Became a Christian Beyond the Church. “May God give us all greater confidence in his sovereign grace, and may these first real accounts of God-at-work lift your spirits and strengthen your faith.”
The Making Living Disciples (MLD) course, based on Care Net’s 45 years of experience, is a ministry platform designed to help churches develop a holistic, gospel-centered approach to caring for people who make difficult pregnancy decisions. MLD also enables churches to form meaningful partnerships with local pregnancy centers so they can make “kingdom connections” throughout their communities, building a support network for people at risk for in abortion.
Roland Warren, President and CEO of Care Net, said discipleship and church mobilization are key components in the organization’s Pro-Abundant Life movement. Care Net envisions a culture where women and men faced with pregnancy decisions are transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and empowered to choose life for their unborn children and abundant life for their children. family
“We are all about saving the lives of the unborn, helping mothers, reaching out to fathers, and building strong families—but we are more than that because we want those who are also disciples of Jesus Christ that person,” said Roland Warren. “That is our role—God’s design for the family. The call to discipleship is a comprehensive way of thinking about the issue of life.”
Care Net’s Pro Abundant Life movement is definitely gaining momentum. Since 2008, our network of 1,200 pregnancy centers has saved more than 1 million babies from abortion and shared the Gospel with more than 2.2 million parents. But much remains to be done. More churches need to get involved Making Living Disciples. More precious babies need to be saved. Will you pray with us in 2024?
