Joe Biden Wants to Force Every Hospital to Kill Babies in Abortions

Following the collapse of Roe v. Wade last year, President Biden and the anti-Life Democrats were desperately looking for ways to destroy Pro-Life state laws to continue the destruction of pre-born life. One of the latest attempts by the Biden Administration involves trying to use the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) to force hospitals, including those in Texas, to perform abortions.

EMTALA is a federal law that requires public hospitals to stabilize and care for any patient who needs emergency treatment, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Pro-Life President Ronald Reagan championed and signed EMTALA into law in 1986 so that vulnerable patients, including pregnant mothers in labor, could receive essential care for themselves and their preborn children.

But after Pro-Life Dobbs against Jackson The Supreme Court ruling, the Biden Administration issued new health care guidance on EMTALA stating that emergency rooms must offer abortions for a wide range of health care reasons, aimed at undermining Pro-Life states strong life-saving laws.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office sued the Biden Administration to block this guidance from affecting Texas laws and hospitals. A previous order by US federal Judge James Hendrix temporarily halted enforcement of the policy. However, the Biden Administration continued its appeal.

On November 7, 2023, a panel of judges at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit heard that the Biden administration presented its case, seeking to compel Texas hospitals to provide abortion services under umbrella of EMTALA.

The administration says the guidelines are only meant to focus on authorizing care in life-threatening situations. Biden’s attorney, McKaye Neumeister, told the three-judge panel that the guidance merely restated the existing EMTALA policy and did not expand the law.
