Midwife and Life – How Can I Improve My Chances of Conceiving a Baby
Giving IS CARE!
Whether you’re here as part of a quick browse to learn more about fertility or looking to start a family, you’re in the right place. We worked with a fertility treatment center in London to share a list of ways you can boost your chances of getting pregnant.
Have Sex More Often
It goes without saying that increasing the number of times you have sex can boost your chances of getting pregnant, especially during ovulation. Experts say that to get pregnant, you should have unprotected sex at least 3 times a week.
Ovulation and The Fertile Window
Following the last point, the date of your ovulation is key to pregnancy. This is when an egg is released by your ovaries and both egg and sperm can meet. This is usually about 14 days before your next period. It’s worth noting that each individual’s cycle length varies so it may not be exactly the 14th day but it’s easy to remember as it can help create a rough guide. The period known as the “fertile window” is when you have any chance of getting pregnant and when you should try to get pregnant. This is usually five days before ovulation and the day after ovulation because sperm can live in the uterus for several days.
Strive For A Healthy Lifestyle
Weight can affect fertility so it’s important to take care of your health. That goes for being both overweight and underweight as it can inhibit ovulation. Also, eating a clean, healthy diet that contains antioxidants can boost your chances of getting pregnant because it’s thought to remove free radicals that damage both eggs and sperm from the body.
Eat Food With Fiber
As well as regulating your bowels, fiber helps keep your hormones in check. It removes excesses such as estrogen by binding to the ovaries. Foods that do a good job of this are avocados, sweet potatoes, oats, and fruit.
Multivitamins
Although they should not be taken in place of a healthy balanced diet, multivitamins can help to address deficiencies and improve your chances of conceiving. According to research, an estimated 20 percent of ovulatory infertility can be prevented by taking 3 types of multivitamins.
