Polls Show Americans are Pro-Life, Reject Democrat Position of Abortions Up to Birth

Those interested in the views of their fellow US citizens on abortion should not look to the establishment media for a full or accurate picture.

Polling consistently shows that Americans reject the Democrats’ push for abortion on demand through birth — but few outlets outside the conservative or pro-life media report on the views held by Americans on abortion. National pro-life group

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America called out the media for others “burying this truth and promoting a narrative that late-term abortion has increased in popularity.”

“Every time, Americans have spoken clearly about late-term abortion – they reject it,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, the group’s president.

Dannenfelser refers to an ABC News/Washington Post poll from late last fall showed that 64% of Americans refused abortion on demand until the moment of birth.

He cited legislation proposed last fall by Republicans in Congress, the Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act, which would conform to this consensus by establishing a federal minimum limit on abortions after 15 week – a point where unborn children can feel pain. This is in contrast to the Democrats’ “unpopular law to mandate abortion on demand up to birth in all 50 states,” Dannenfelser said.

He went on to further note this contrast amid the media’s indifference to coverage of Americans’ views on abortion.

“As pro-life Republicans go on offense to expose the extremism of their opponents and Democrats fear losing the House and Senate to the contrary record the expenditure with pro-abortion ads, the media allies of the abortion lobby are running the cover again,” Dannenfelser said. “We call on pollsters and the media to stop playing games and tell the truth about where so many Americans stand.”

The president of the largest pregnancy assistance network in the US noted the hypocrisy of the term “choice” favored by Democrats and other abortion supporters amid this backdrop of media silence on Americans’ abortion views.

“The Democrat Party is showing that they are not about “choice,” only abortion,” said Jor-El Godsey. “Their platform, and their actions in the party, such as the one in Coloradois removes options for women in unexpected pregnancy – instead of helping women, they support Big Abortion’s ideology and profits.”

Godsey noticed the Colorado Democrats current effort to ban the return of the life-saving abortion pill in the state. Media coverage of the abortion pill comeback largely reflects the abortion industry’s bias against the protocol.

The ABC/WaPo poll isn’t the only one pointing to American rejection of abortion extremism.

In January of this year a Marist poll confirmed that 7 in 10 Americans want significant limits on abortion.

Key findings there include:

• 69% of Americans support limiting abortion to, at most, the first trimester of pregnancy (With the 72% of women, 71% of Independents and almost half of rank-and-file Democrats).

• 91% of Americans support pregnancy centers, which offer important material, medical and educational support to mothers during their pregnancy and after their baby.

• 60% of Americans oppose using tax dollars to fund abortion domestically, and 78% oppose using tax dollars to fund abortion abroad.

Commenting at the time about how pro-life advocates can protect the unborn and serve women and families following the historic Dobbs victory, Dannenfelser noted the importance of assisted conception.

“The pro-life movement will fight for the strongest protections possible, in legislatures across the land and in our nation’s capital,” he said. “We will continue to grow the pro-life safety net, which includes nearly 3,000 pregnancy centers and maternity homes across the country.”

The latest data from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s research arm, Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), found that the US pro-life pregnancy centers help nearly 2 million with essential services every year, providing abundant care to women and families. The latest CLI data from earlier this year detailed the real-world benefit ore pregnancy helping organizations serving women and their loved ones. The effectiveness of these organizations shows that women and their children can live without abortion – a fact that is consistent with the American view of abortion. regulation.

Dannefelser’s group shared that in 2022 alone, the following polls showed the same findings on Americans’ desire for abortion limits:

In January, a Marist/Knights of Columbus poll found that 71% of Americans – including 70% of Independents and 49% of Democrats – want abortion limited, for the most part, to the first trimester of pregnancy. 91% of Americans support pregnancy centers, which offer essential material, medical and educational support to mothers during their pregnancy and after their baby is born. 69% of Americans support limiting abortion to, at most, the first trimester of pregnancy. 60% of Americans oppose using tax dollars to fund abortion domestically, and 78% oppose using tax dollars to fund abortion abroad.

Last May, following the leak of the Dobbs draft decision, Gallup found 65% of Americans think there should be limits on abortion.

Also in May, a poll by OnMessage Inc in six key battleground states, it found that 50% of likely voters were more likely to vote for a Republican candidate who supported a 15-week abortion limit, compared to 30% of voters who were less want a Democratic candidate who supports unlimited abortion up to the moment of birth.

In June 2022, a Harvard-Harris national poll found that 72% of voters would limit abortions before 15 weeks, including 75% of women, 70% of Independents and 60% of rank-and-file Democrats. Only 10% of voters support the position of the leading Democrats that there should be no limits on abortion.

In July, national polls by OnMessage Inc. found that 70% of voters oppose abortion without restrictions, including majorities of both pro-choice and pro-life voters. 63% of voters disapprove of legislation that would repeal nearly all state-level abortion bans, even limits on late-term abortions.

A Trafalgar Group poll conducted on September 16-17, found that, by an 18-point margin, voters preferred a 15-week federal limit with exceptions to a federal law that would create a “right” to abortion at any time and will block state limits. 59% of voters overall preferred the 15-week limit, including 54% of women and majorities of every age group.

Dannenfelser welcomed the poll results and denounced the Democrats’ abortion extremism.

“Life is winning in the Dobbs era,” he said. “Americans overwhelmingly reject the massive abortion lobby-Democratic Party agenda of abortion on demand until birth, paid for by taxpayers.”
