preparation for childbirth
Jun 16, 2023
Uncertain what to expect at work? An overview of the labor stages goes into detail to help you navigate the labor progress.
Let’s not complicate it. It may seem confusing to begin with, but once you’ve gone over it a few times, it’s easier to understand.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN LABOR
There are three stages of production:
first chapter – the cervix dilates from 0cm – 10cm dilated
2nd stage – pushing and crowning occurs and the baby is born
third stage – placenta was delivered
Within the first stage there are three stages:
1. Early / latent phase (0-3cm dilated) – infrequent contractions
2. Active phase (3-7cm dilated) – contractions become longer, stronger and closer (2-3 contractions in 10 minutes)
3. Transition (7-10cm dilation)
This video gives you an overview of what happens throughout the manufacturing process.
