British MPs Want Abortions Up to Birth After Woman Kills Her 33-Week-Old Unborn Baby

A woman “suffered nightmares and flashbacks” after seeing the face of her baby, Lily, who she aborted at eight months pregnant using illegally obtained abortion pills.

Carla Foster, 44, used the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) method of “pills by post” to take abortion pills during the lockdown when she was 32-34 weeks pregnant. Abortion is available in the UK up to 24 weeks gestation, but ‘DIY’ at home abortion (when the pills are posted to the woman after a telephone consultation) are only available for up to 10 weeks.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard how Ms Foster told BPAS during a telephone consultation that she was seven weeks and four days pregnant, despite her online search history indicating she knew she was already in her third trimester. her, and messages on her phone indicating that she had known about her pregnancy for about three months on 1 February 2020, before the introduction of the COVID-lockdown measures.

On 11 May 2020, after taking abortion pills posted to her by BPAS, without an in-person appointment or scan, Ms Foster’s daughter, Lily, was stillborn before 7pm that night. A post-mortem examination confirmed that baby Lily was between 32-34 weeks pregnant at the time and there were no signs of natural illness or trauma that could explain her death. Ms Foster was sentenced to 28 months in prison, half of which was spent in custody.

BPAS lobbied for in-person appointments to be abolished despite evidence that they could result in late-term abortions taking place at home

In-person appointments were previously required before a medical abortion could take place, but BPAS was successful lobbied the Government to remove them during the pandemic.

Then it became clear that women were not accurately estimating their pregnancy at home, along with several other care issues arising from home abortion procedures.

Medical professionals, 70% of respondents in a consultation of the Government and MPs, with Miriam Cates na specifically mentions the risks around inaccurate pregnancy estimates, called for the reinstatement of personal appointments. The government then decided to restore in-person appointments.

BPAS after joined prominent pro-abortion MPs to support an amendment to the Health and Care Bill passed by a narrow margin of 27 votes to reverse the Government’s decision to restore these appointments.

BPAS abdicates the responsibility and call to introduce abortion up to birth

Instead of taking responsibility for sending abortion pills 22 weeks past legal limit for home abortions and risking the health of the mother as well as her unborn child, BPAS is now cynically using this woman’s tragic experience of using its abortion service to- lobby the Government and MPs to introduce abortion up to birth throughout the United Kingdom.

In England and Wales, this involved repealing sections 58 and 59 of the Offenses Against the Person Act with the Fetal Life Preservation Act.

As the Abortion Act 1967 was passed to create exemptions to 58 and 59 of the Offenses Against the Person Act together with the Infant Life Preservation Act, repealing this law would make the Abortion Act 1967 redundant in England and Wales.

This change in the law will remove the current 24-week time limit for abortion, and abortion will be available on demand, for any reason, until birth. The maximum time limit will be completely removed.

Abortion provider BPAS, which campaigned for this law change, has made it explicit that it is campaigning to remove all gestational time limits for abortion.

This position was adopted by its then CEO, Ann Furedi, who launched a campaign to ‘decriminalize’ abortion stated“I want to be very clear and blunt … there should be no legal upper limit”.

This proposal is completely inconsistent with the position of women on the issue. Voting from Savanta ComRes on whether time limits for abortion showed that only 1% of women in Great Britain wanted to extend the time limit beyond 24 weeks and 1% wanted to increase until birth, in contrast to 70% of women who favored a reduction in time limits.

Calls for personal appointments to be returned

Right To Life UK is calling for the reintroduction of in-person appointments before all abortions take place to ensure that babies’ pregnancies can be accurately assessed, along with a full inquiry into the abortion provider, BPAS, to for sending abortion pills to a woman whose baby is at least 32 weeks pregnant, which is 22 weeks beyond legal limit for home abortions, without conducting a personal consultation to accurately determine the baby’s pregnancy.

The case would not have occurred if baby Lily’s pregnancy had been accurately determined by ultrasound or a physical examination during an in-person appointment. If this appointment takes place, the baby’s pregnancy is definitely determined accurately and the abortion cannot take place.

The public was shocked by the 32-week abortion

There has been shock expressed by a large number of people online, many of whom hold a pro-choice position on abortion, regarding baby Lily’s abortion taking place when she was 32 weeks pregnant.

Michelle Dewberry, who is pro-choice, said that getting a late-term abortion at 32-34 weeks is not ‘health care’. He shared a picture of her son when he was born at 31 weeks and is now a happy toddler.

Allison Pearson taught that the baby can easily survive without help outside the womb and said that no one should have the right to abort a baby at 32 weeks of pregnancy.

Sophie Corcoran, who born at 28 weeks, said he believed abortion was necessary in some cases but that “abortion at 32/34 weeks” was not health care.

Nick Dixon spoke on GB News last night about the culpability of BPAS, saying “BPAS … sent him these pills in the post, which is completely irresponsible – medically and legally – because it’s dangerous but he could also face life in prison … BPAS now, though , says it’s shocking and appalling … so they’re doubling down to disrupt what they’ve done is an unusual type of medical malpractice”.

Dr Hilary Jones MBE, a GP, was interviewed on Good Morning Britain today about the case and said “Obviously, this woman needs professional help, she needs counselling, she needs support, she needs guidance through very difficult that time for him … the bottom line is that this child was born at a time when he could live independently … premature babies can live from 26 [weeks]younger, and this child will be 32 weeks, 34 weeks, somewhere around that time.”

He continued “I rue the fact that he was sent pills in the post … based on what he said, and these pills … should be used under strict medical supervision”.

Babies are born prematurely 21 weeks and continued to survive, with survival chances increasing weekly due to technical advances, better health care planning and the increased use of steroids.

Right To Life UK spokeswoman Catherine Robinson said “We are calling for the return of in-person appointments before abortions take place to ensure babies’ pregnancies can be accurately assessed.”

“We are also calling for a full inquiry into the abortion provider, the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, for sending abortion pills to a woman whose baby, Lily, was 22 weeks beyond legal limit for home abortions.”

“The Government must firmly reject changing the law to legalize abortion until birth, as proposed by abortion campaigners, led by BPAS, who are using this tragic case. to call the removal of more abortion protections and the abortion until birth throughout the United Kingdom.”

“At least 32 weeks or around 8 months gestation, Baby Lily is a fully formed human child. If her mother had been given a personal appointment by BPAS, she would still be alive.”

“Instead of taking responsibility for sending abortion pills 22 weeks after legal limit for home abortions and risking the health of the mother as well as her unborn child, this same abortion provider, BPAS, cynically exploits this woman’s tragic experience of using its abortion service to lobby the Government to introduce abortion until birth.”
