carafem Statement on Guilty Verdict in Federal FACE Act

Nashville, Tennessee – In response to the guilty verdict for the six defendants found guilty today of violating the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act in Mt. Juliet, Carafem’s Tennessee Health Center, Melissa Grant, Carafem’s Chief Operating Officer, released the following statement:

“The safety and security of carafem clients and staff remains our top priority. The intentional blocking of our carafem health center in Mt Juliet, Tennessee, in March 2021 was an intentional act of infringement, aimed at preventing our clients from accessing and our staff from providing essential healthcare services . This serves as an unfortunate illustration of the use of personal agendas to justify preventing our small business from operating. This judgment is an important step in defining boundaries to protect small businesses from unreasonable interference by those driven by politically motivated grievances against us. We are pleased to witness justice being served.”
