How do businesses become B Corp?
‘Being a B Corp is about not only looking at one aspect of your business, but the overall impact of your business on everything you do. So there is an online assessment tool that every B Corp needs to answer, including questions on: how you treat your workers, how you treat your local community, what impact you have on the environment and the your management and customers.’
When you go through the assessment you have to get more than 80 points, which is a very high bar to reach. Most businesses score at 50. B Corps is not perfect but these are businesses willing to learn and make changes, we set the minimum that businesses should aim for. The maximum score is 200, and the passing score is 80 so businesses have a long way to go.
Every B Corp has to recertify every 3 years and go through the full assessment again to make sure the businesses are keeping their promises.
